Outline possibilities for GRID:

- Jacquard Loom and Knitting (exchange patterns through cards) . exchanging codes that produce patterns . see Fabric Workshop and Museum, show at craft museum in SF

- Medieval Patterns, religious order (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebastien_Truchet)

- Screen grid (move from oscilliscope to grid, Radial coordinates to Cartesian, circle to rectangle TV) . progression from circle to square . started circle, then distorted into a rectangular shape (tv tube is on it's way to becoming square) . transition to LCD panel from CRT to LCD

- Constructivism and Grid in visual art (related to 10 PRINT)

Notes for Grid:

- As a visual work, 10 PRINT follows from Constructivism. . Started by Rodchenko . Unlike pre-ware utopian constructivism, post-war was about pure logic and systems for their own sake . Post-ware mostly European (focused in Paris, London, Zurich) . GRAV (including Morellet, Molnar) . Ad Reinhardt is a bridge in the US

- Working within a grid . Paul Klee with striking similarity . Francois Molar almost identical to 10 PRINT, including random selection (p. 212 in DATA) . Sol LeWitt worked with random elements in a grid
